James Aydelott joined NBC 5 in June 2005 as a weekend meteorologist.
James earned a bachelor's degree in meteorology at the University of Oklahoma. As a student, he chased (and caught) tornadoes all across Oklahoma and Texas.
After graduation, James worked at TV stations in Savannah, Ga.; Wichita, Kan.; and in Sherman, Texas, before returning home to Tulsa, Okla.
James spent the past 10 years forecasting for the Tulsa TV market, so he has lots of experience forecasting severe storms in the southern plains.
James grew up in Tulsa, but his family actually has a Metroplex connection. His parents met and were married in Fort Worth.
In his time away from work, James enjoys flying. He is a licensed and instrument-rated private pilot. He also enjoys cooking, especially TexMex, Italian and desserts.
